RE: size of 5er and RV parks
I found in the older prov sites my 31 ft was about it for length,i have had to wait at some campgrounds for a site to take our 36 ft /3lide fiver
RE: Dilemna
IT would be of interest to know how it was used, week end camper or full time use-3/6 mos per year.If you have no history on it,the interior wear may give you a hint, also take a look at the running gear.I personally would take a high end unit, that is in ex cond to the artic fox.
RE: Sidewinder, Superglide or HiJacker
18 K Hijacker auto slide,great unit,trouble free,works on all fivers,10,000 miles hauling a 14600 fiver,would never have anything else,the only way to go.,2250$$ can installed.
RE: Let's talk bike racks some more.
ENJOYING A RV EXPERIENCE is about ease of use, convience,a trouble free experience.Spend a few dollars extra, bolt or weld a hitch to the frame and bumper, ease of use,not a hassel and trouble free.YES!
RE: help
I believe heartland has a new lite wt that may do the job for you.Not everyone needs a 30 plus ft fiver, most of us did with a lot less in the past, although i do love my 35.5 t Newmar. That being said, alot of the new 1/2 tons are close to the 3/4 tons of old.Power will not be an issue, new ram 390 hp,tundra similar. One also needs to recognize ,that we are now in changing times, not much diff in a v10 ford gasser vs diesels high maint costs.
RE: Heartland unhappy camper
I would just fix it myself, and be done with it.You will find unless its a major issue, its not worth getting worked up over,it will take all the joy out of your camping experience.
RE: Ride improvement advice needed
Its like going to your doctor, got a problem ,take a prescription, hope it helps.9/10 times it is likley your set up.Proper Pin wt is critical,re/mor ryde susp or similar very important, set up correctly that alone should address most issues.
RE: Very Interesting......future trucks
SO with all this apparent technology ,what has happened with the new diesel trucks, lots of problems with the 6.7 cummins reported, plus dpf problems as well with others,we become the guinea pigs for these so called experts, wait till your emissions warranty runs out and you have to replace this stuff from your pension.GOOD LUCK.
RE: Duramax unloaded mileage
AND nobody is talking about the HIGH servicing costs associated with Diesels.vs GAS.you could burn a lot of gas re that factor alone.Comes down to your actual miles of towing vs just every day use,it seems we may have to change our thinking when it comes to what is really economical and practical.By the way ,love my diesel, but a v10 Ford would more than do the job looking where fuel prices are headed.
RE: Silverback GII
What a Bummer!!! You would think in these days with the competion being stiff ,they would step up THE QUALITY CONTROL.Most of these mfgs simiply DO NOT GET IT !!
RE: Pilgrim's new Ultima Composilite fifth-wheel
9% fuel saving per 1000 lbs of weight. What a joke,i,m sure it was tested in a real world situation, just like the rest of their mfg process.PUlling 12000 lbs or 15000 lbs all diesels will be 10/11 period, travelling at similar speeds.
RE: Brake controller-is it working?
Are your fiver brakes set right up?MY fiver is 14600 loaded, the prodigy needs between 7-8 volts and it will haul the fiver down in a big hurry.
RE: Dually or Single rear wheels for towing
2000 lbs pin wt on a 3500 srw is a Joke .I have 2800 lbs pin wt on my srw 3500.I put on 305/55/r20 e rated tires, 12.4 inches width of rubber ,talk about stable, over 10,000 miles pulling this set up in the mountains and in heavy wind.I really think that a good set up is one of the main keys to a Relaxing pull. There is no question that a bigger TV than what is called for will do an awesome job ,setup would not be as critical.
RE: Storing a pair of EU2000i's
I have the eu 3000 is,made a flip down tray on the drivers side bay approx 20x30 inches long, simple, easy to use and out of sight.
RE: Need Advice on Holding Tanks! That Fell!
I have only rv,d for 20 years or so .What do you watch for?? Watch you water pump ,it will vibrate fittings loose, caught it before any damage!!Anyone got some hints as to their experiences what to keep an eye on??
RE: 11.38 MPG Towing over 13000 lbs!
I ALMOST WENT TO SLEEP DRIVING THRU ca last winter ,avg 11 mpg pulling almost 23000 gross fiver/truck,55/65 little diff,5.9 cummins likes to pull at 72 mph, will probably learn some new road/speed manners in 08.
